Shadow of the Tomb Raider is an action-adventure video game developed by Eidos Montreal in collaboration with Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix. In the game, players assume the role of protagonist Lara Croft as she explores environments across the continent of South America. The game's centerpiece will be the largest in the franchise and will also reveal the hidden city of Paity. Players can engage in quests and side missions and learn about Paity, providing a rich experience. A new trading system allows players to trade resources and salvage parts and weapons in Paity. Several gameplay changes have been made, much like those in Rise. The swimming controls have been completely overhauled, with Lara now able to hold her breath underwater for longer periods due to the introduction of pressure chambers. She also gains the ability to slide down a slope using a rope. Stealth becomes an important part of the game, with Lara avoiding enemy detection by covering herself in mud, hiding in bushes or behind walls, and retreating from combat.
